Krasnodar is the administrative center of Krasnodar Krai. The city is also known as the southern capital of Russia. Krasnodar is the historic center of Kuban region. The city has an area of 192 km2 . It has a population of nearly 744,995 people by the census of 2010.

History of Krasnodar

The town was founded in the year of 1794. It was named Yekaterinodar. Yekaterinodar became an important center of Kuban Cossacks in the early time of 19th century.

The population of the city was about 45,000 in 1888. Yekaterinodar was a large trade center of Russia’s southern regions.

Climate of the City

The city has the humid continental climate with hot summers and no dry season. An average daily high temperature of 26°C is usually observed in summers. In winters the  average temperature stays below 9°C .
