Tsarskoye Selo throughout two centuries was the summer residence of the Russian emperors.The construction of the imperial residence began in 1710-1720. Since 1990 Tsarskoye Selo is one of the most beautiful palace and park ensembles of Europe. The place is included in the list of monuments of the world cultural and natural heritage of UNESCO.

Amber room is one of the most visited rooms of the Tsarskoye Selo complex. The Amber room lies in the big Catherine Palace. It was presented to Peter I, but then irrevocably lost in days of the Great Patriotic War.
The present room is later on reconstruction according to ancient photos and drawings. Today, millions of tourists come to admire the golden beauty of Amber room. The room received the name "Amber" as its walls are decorated by the elegant panels collected from small multi-colored slices of Baltic amber.
