Tver is famous for well-known Russian writers, poets, warriors, scientists like Pushkin, Mikhail Tverskoy, Ivan Krylov, Vladimir Bradis, Sergei Lemeshev.

The city is the administrative center of Tver Oblast. The city is located in the north of Moscow. 

Total population of the city is 408,852. It is the 46th largest city by population (Census of 2013). Total area of the city is 152.22 km2. It is located near River Volga and River Tvertsa.

Tver is nearly 105 miles distant from  Moscow city.

History of Tver

The city was  founded in 1135. Novgorodian traders came there and started to live here. With the passage of time, this city became one of the populous city of Russia.

This city was ruled by different princes and saints . Kalinin was the old name of the city.

Climate of Tver

Winters are extremely cold here. The lowest recorded temperature in December is around -45 C. Summers are short and stays only for the month of June, July and August. The average temperature in summers is around 23 C.

City is advanced in the sector of education. Tver State University, State Medical Academy, Zhukov Air and Space Defense Academy and the local campus of Moscow State Economics Statistics and Informatics are the top educational centers here.
