The City of Yaroslavl

Yaroslavl is a Volga river city of  trading importance in Russia

This is the administrative center of Yaroslavl Oblast. City is located in the Northeast side of Moscow. In terms of population, it is the 23rd  largest city by population. The population of the city is 591,486 (2010 census data). The city has the total area of 36, 400 kilometers square.

This city is located near the Kotorosi and Volga Rivers. This city is nearly 155 miles distant from  Moscow city.

History of Yaroslavl

City was founded in 1010. In Volga, it is the oldest city which was founded by Prince of that regime. It is among the historical cities of Russia which contributes in shaping World’s heritage.

Climate of Yaroslavl

The city has a moderate climate on the other regions of Russia . Weather is not on the extreme level in summers and winters.  Average temperature in summer is 24 ◦C and in winters, it reaches to -15 ◦C.

Educational Institutes of Yaroslavl

The city is known for the center of higher education in Russia.  Yaroslavl State Agricultural Academy ‘Demidov’ State University and Ushinskiy Pedagogical University are the prominent ones.

Economy of Yaroslavl

City started trading in 17th century and tried to set up different industries in the city. Today, it can be seen that great variety of automobile industries and textile industries are present here.

Places to Visit in Yaroslavl

Church of Elijah, The Assumption Cathedral, The Belfry Tower of  Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery are the worth seeing places in the city. Three main theaters are present in city. The most famous among tourists is Volkov Theater.
